Time Based Narrative: Week 7 Shot Development

Placing After Effects particles in Snow Queen Flying cycle:

This is a particle test trying to create a tail/ trail of snow for the Snow Queen when she moves. this used a Cone Axis particle setting and the over all effect was created by moving the producer ( the particles origin) up and down on the Y axis. also to give a sense of weight to the particles I set the gravity to 0.18. this test is very useful for my final shot when the Snow Queen passes over head with her tail moving behind her.

Tail Particle Test:

Here I placing particles in the Snow Queens flying cycle to understand how to sync the movement between the moving elements.  I again used a Cone Axis particle as you can control the direction the particles move in. Unfortunately this cannot be key framed so when the Snow Queen turns back onto herself I had to have a different particle layer and change the directional axis. The change in direction in the Y axis is created by changing the gravity setting.

One of the settings, Particle Longevity, effectively controls how long the trail will be behind the Snow Queen. The two tests bellow only have one difference between them which is this setting: one at 30, and the other at 15. I prefer setting 15 as it isn't as jitter as the one at 30 therefore creating a greater sense of flow. However the fact that I and to separate particle layers causes complications but luckily in all my shot the Snow Queen will always be moving in one direction and not back onto herself.
